Conservative Leader outlines policy to penalize municipal gatekeepers and reward cities that exceed annual housing completion targets.
OTTAWA, Ont. — Pierre Poilievre detailed a federal housing reform framework proposing that federal infrastructure funding be directly conditional on cities approving 15% more home construction annually.
"Young Canadians cannot buy a home because city hall bureaucrats block permits with endless delays and exorbitant fees," Poilievre argued in Ottawa.
Under the plan, cities that build transit-oriented density ahead of schedule would qualify for bonus capital grants.
